Antonella Barba - Nude Photos Good Career Move

The Latest Antonella Barba Photos Here:More Antonella Barba Photos

Despite receiving some strong criticism from the American Idol judges’ Antonella Barba has lived to sing another day on the hit reality show. While Barba may not have been a favorite of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul or Randy Jackson there were plenty in the voting public that backed the highly publicized Idol hopeful.

Barba survived while Alaina Alexander, Leslie Hunt, Nicholas Pedro and A.J. Tabaldo fell victim to the popularity contest that is phone voting.

Both Hunt and Tablado were sent packing after their rendition of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” left no impression. Such is the case when your voting public is too young to recognize the artist that you’re covering.

While the Dixie Chicks cleaned up at the Grammy Awards, Alaina Alexander wasn’t as lucky on American Idol. Alexander covered “Not Ready To Make Nice” so the votes said they not willing to keep her around.

Nicholas Pedro covered the hit song “Fever” and left voters with all that goes with a fever, nausea, headache, etc. Pedro had been criticized by Simon for showing a lack of charisma and the voters seemed to agree.

While nobody really expected Barba to get the boot, it was evident on Wednesday night that she would need to step up her performance if she was going to survive through the next cuts. She may have been receiving a lot of support for the scandal involving revealing photographs of herself on the internet but the public won’t allow that to carry her all the way. More...

Antonella Barba Topless Pix: Nude Photos Deliver American Idol Vote

By Keith Walters Jones
Mar 2, 2007

Many speculated that the topless photos of Antonella Barba that emerged would give the less than stellar singer exactly the boost she needed to keep her in the popularity contest that is American idol at least one more week. And when she was pulled on stage by Ryan Seacrest on Thursday during the elimination round those that understand that much knew she would survive. In fact, when Seacrest hesitated and made it seem like Antonella would be voted off she looked absolutely shocked.

But of course she stays, even though in the real world of singing, she would already have been dumped as she has had two performances that were sub par. Add to that she is surrounded by very talented gals that are so far above her in singing talent and stage presence. But Antonella has an edge.

The racy pictures that have emerged have not only the Internet world buzzing, but also you can see her on many cable TV shows each night. The photos are discussed nightly on all of the cable news stations and on local network newscasts. And guess what that does? It delivers votes. She survived and is now in the top sixteen of American idol. She likely doesn't belong, but in fairness to the sexy singer neither do have the guys. But she's in for one more week and certainly the reason is the photos.

The others that were eliminated this week can't really complain. Leslie Hunt and Alaina Alexander were not ready for prime time quite yet. And here's a tip for any of the women, don't sing any Dixie Chicks song. The snobs that screw up the Grammy Awards each year don't even watch American idol. Let alone vote for it. That said - it will take a lot for Antonella to survive next week. But - stranger things have happened. More...

“American Idol,'’ Antonella Barba and the Thursday vote

By Charlie McCollum

In a previous post, I suggested that justice is sometimes elusive in the world of “American Idol'’ and Thursday’s results show proved the point.

I’ve got no problem with Alaina Alexander (the Dixie Chicks ought to barbasue her), Nick Pedro and even Leslie Hunt getting the ax. None of them would have or should have made the final 12. But dumping AJ Tabaldo (who proved he was one of the better male singer with his performance of “Feelin’ Good'’) was a head scratcher. And the fact that Antonella Barba (right) — current Queen of the Web — and Sanjaya Malakar — who has proven to have a better smile than a voice — will around for another week is painfully wrong.

All I can think of with Barba is that she got the support of the folks at the anti-”Idol'’ site votefortheworst.com (although I’ve always had my doubts about just how many votes the site really generates) and fans of “Girls Gone Wild'’ everywhere. Certainly, it wasn’t her vocal work which seems to be getting worse instead of better. Her rendition of “Because You Love Me'’ this week bordered on the horrid.

But the question may be moot because, unless things change dramatically, the competition is likely to come down to Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha Jones who are two giant steps ahead of the rest in this game of Simon Says.

That’s, of course, if there is any justice in the world. Ooops, we’ve already determined that there isn’t. More...
